Moncton woman, 18, killed in Friday crash

An 18-year-old Moncton woman died Friday night after a head-on collision on Route 115 in Irishtown, N.B., according to the RCMP.

Members of the Caledonia and Codiac detachments responded around 10:05 p.m. to a report of a head-on collision between a car and a jeep on Highway 115, in Irishtown.

“The driver of the car, an 18-year-old woman from Moncton, died at the scene as a result of her injuries,” police said in a news release.

“Four passengers from the same car were transported to hospital, one of which is believed to be in critical condition.”

Mounties said the three other passengers are believed to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the jeep, along with two passengers, were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The collision is believed to have occurred when the car, travelling southbound, crossed the centre line and struck the jeep, which was travelling northbound,” police said.

Police said an autopsy will determine the woman’s exact cause of death.
