Gun charges laid against two men following Rogersville shooting

Two men from Rogersville, N.B., have been arrested and face firearm-related charges following a shooting in a residential area.

Members of Richibucto RCMP responded to a report of shots fired inside an apartment complex on April 3 at 11:30 p.m.

Police quickly arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene. A 21-year-old man was later taken into custody on Route 126 in Rogersville, N.B.

Nobody was injured during this isolated incident, Mounties said.

Police searched the apartment on April 4 and seized ammunition.

Jacob Thibodeau, 21, and Mathieu LeBlanc, 30, both of Rogersville, N.B., appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on April 4.

Thibodeau was charged with careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He was released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.

LeBlanc was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
