A young family of five was displaced Saturday by a fire in southwestern New Brunswick, causing major damage to their house.
Officials with the Canadian Red Cross said the fire happened around 8 p.m. in St. Stephen, a few kilometres north of St. George.
Spokesperson Dan Bedell confirmed in an email that a couple and three children will be staying temporarily in a trailer offered by a friend.
“Canadian Red Cross volunteers have helped with emergency purchases like clothing, food and some other essential needs while they await further help through insurance,” he said.
There were no injuries from the fire along Canal Road, and there is no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
