P.E.I. RCMP investigate crash involving stolen truck from Ontario

Police on Prince Edward Island are actively investigating after a vehicle allegedly stolen from Ontario had crashed on the island early Monday.

Queens District RCMP responded at around 9:10 a.m. to a single-vehicle collision on Route 19 in Cumberland, P.E.I.

“Police found that the 2021 White GMC Sierra had lost control and rolled,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore of the PEI RCMP in a news release.

“Police learned that a single occupant exited the truck and left the scene.”

Mounties said its members later determined the truck had allegedly been stolen from somewhere in Ontario.

They did not indicate when or where in Ontario the alleged theft took place.

Police said anyone with information about the stolen vehicle could contact the Queens district RCMP at (902) 566-7112.
