Man taken into custody after construction site shooting

One person was taken into custody Wednesday after shots were fired at a construction site in northwestern New Brunswick.

The West District RCMP said officers responded shortly before 3 p.m. to the incident in Cloverdale, N.B., east of Hartland.

Police issued an Alert Ready message for the region, advising residents to stay inside and lock their doors.

A suspect, identified as being a 24-year-old man from Coldstream, N.B., west of Cloverdale, was arrested without further incident.

“We want to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during this incident,” said New Brunswick RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette.

“We would also like to recognize the excellent police work by all members involved, which led to a quick and safe resolution to this situation.

Mounties say no injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
