Four teenage boys arrested in uptown Saint John shooting

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital Tuesday after a shooting in uptown Saint John allegedly involving four teenage boys, police said.

Investigators with the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit responded at around 2:51 a.m. to a report that someone had allegedly been shot in the 200-block of Duke Street South.

“On arrival, officers located a 30-year-old man who had allegedly been shot,” police spokesperson Sean Rocca said in a statement.

“He was transported to hospital and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police say officers searched the area and arrested two 15-year-old boys and two 16-year-old boys. Their names are not being released due to protection laws under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

One 15-year-old possessed a firearm when he was arrested, the force said.

Investigators say no charges have been laid at this time, but an investigation remains ongoing.
