A head-on collision on Highway 7 involving a car and a one-tonne truck claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman.
Emergency crews arrived at around 7:15 a.m. Friday to the scene on Highway 7 in Welsford, N.B., about 14 kilometres northwest of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.
“The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene as a result of her injuries,” said Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh in a statement.
“The driver and passenger of the one-ton truck were transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.”
Police say the woman was from Carter’s Point, N.B., located on the Kingston Peninsula.
Mounties believe the car crossed the centre line travelling southbound and collided head on with the one-tonne truck travelling northbound.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist is working alongside the New Brunswick Coroner’s Officer with the investigation.
An autopsy is being scheduled to confirm the woman’s exact cause of death.
