More than 250 tickets were issued by Codiac RCMP last week during traffic enforcement in the greater Moncton area.
Mounties say members conducted operations on May 24 and 25 in both urban and rural areas of greater Moncton.
“In total, 22 vehicles were towed, several of which had fictitious inspection stickers on their windshield,” reads a news release from the Codiac RCMP.
“256 tickets were issued under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act, including 50 tickets for using a hand-held electronic device while driving and 32 tickets for not wearing a seatbelt.”
Officers say five people have been charged for driving while suspended, and one person was arrested for driving while impaired.
“We all have a role to play when it comes to making our roads and communities safer,” said Codiac RCMP Cpl. Ghislain David.
“Our top priority continues to be keeping the public safe by limiting the number of dangerous drivers on our roadways.”
