More than a dozen firefighters helped free a truck driver Wednesday afternoon after their tractor trailer collided with a highway utility pole.
The Musquash Fire Department responded at 12:45 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident along Route 790 in Musquash.
When crews arrived, they discovered an overturned tractor trailer, with the driver still trapped in their seat.
“Musquash Fire acted swiftly, shutting down the road and freeing the driver using specialized hydraulic equipment to cut the driver out of the vehicle that had collided with an electricity pole by the side of the road,” reads a statement from the department.
“Ambulance New Brunswick transferred the injured driver to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, while NB Power repaired damage to the electricity pole.”
Officials say rescue efforts required 13 firefighters, two fire engines, one heavy rescue vehicle and a support utility vehicle.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the New Brunswick RCMP.
