Saint John police seek new chief — just for a day

Do you have what it takes to be chief of the Saint John Police Force?

If you’re between the ages of five and 12, the force is looking for someone to take over policing duties for one day.

Investigators say the Chief for a Day contest is part of the force’s celebrations for National Police Week, which is taking place from May 14 to 20.

Saint John police want applicants to submit a one-page essay by May 12 explaining what values would be important for all police officers to demonstrate.

The successful applicant will spend the day at Saint John Police Headquarters and check out what police say are “some really cool things.”

“A great day has been planned for our new chief,” the force said.

Cayden Liu, a six-year-old boy from Quispamsis, won the Chief for a Day contest in 2022.
