More than 20 firefighters from the Musquash Fire Department were quick to put out a structure fire in Maces Bay on Monday morning.
First responders say they received an emergency call at 4:30 a.m. about a blaze that broke out in a home near the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station.
Efforts required over 20 Firefighters, three fire trucks, one rescue vehicle and two utility vehicles to get the fire under control.
“Musquash Fire quickly brought the fire to the home’s attached garage under control and subsequently extinguished the fire that had developed in the attic preventing it from spreading further through the residential part of the building,” reads a news release from Musquash Fire.
“Water from a nearby recently installed MFD water source was used for refilling fire trucks during the operation and both St. George and Blacks Harbour fire departments were alerted as backup.”
Nobody was inside the home at the time of the blaze and most of the property and personal belongings were saved, officials say.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
