UPDATE: Uptown robbery sparked police operation at east Saint John trailer park

Law enforcement in Saint John are releasing more details into a “police operation” that took place Thursday at an east side trailer park.

Members of the Saint John Police Force closed off several areas near the Birdland Trailer Park as they executed a search warrant on Kingfisher Road, arresting three people.

Officers say the search came as a result of an investigation into a robbery in uptown Saint John late on Tuesday night.

“A taxi driver was assaulted during an attempted robbery at gunpoint in the area of Sewell Street,” said force spokesperson Sean Rocca in a press release.

“He sustained a non-life threating injury, but he was able to leave the scene and call police. The Major Crime Unit was called to investigate.”

Rocca said police arrested a 32-year-old man on Wednesday for robbery and was remanded to jail until a bail hearing on April 24.

City police then executed what it calls a “high-risk search warrant” on Thursday morning at a home on Kingfisher Road.
