Students at Oromocto High School returned to the classroom Tuesday afternoon following alleged threats that placed the school on lockdown.
The New Brunswick RCMP confirmed on Twitter it was responding to and investigating “a report of threats” made to the school.
“As a precaution, school officials have placed the school in a hold-and-secure status,” reads a tweet posted at 11:19 a.m.
Police said the hold-and-secure was lifted shortly after 2 p.m., and students had resumed classes.
Mounties say the incident did not pose an immediate threat to public safety or the school.
The RCMP continues to investigate, adding that more information will be shared soon.
“We thank the public for your understanding and support,” the force’s tweet said.
