A 29-year-old man is on the lam after a traffic violation and driving his vehicle into a police car, Mounties said Thursday.
The Sussex RCMP says its officers tried to stop a vehicle Tuesday afternoon for a traffic violation in Berwick, north of Sussex, but the driver failed to stop.
“The driver eventually pulled into a parking lot and police were able to confirm the identity of the driver, who was known to police,” reads a statement from the Sussex RCMP.
Police say the man drove into a police car, backed up and hit it a second time, causing significant damages, before he fled the scene.
Investigators have identified the driver as 29-year-old Denver Black of Harewood, N.B., an area about 30 minutes northwest of Moncton.
They say Black may be travelling in an older dark green or black Chevrolet Silverado.
The RCMP says anyone who recognizes Black should not approach him and instead call the police or Crime Stoppers immediately at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
