Human remains discovered in Saint-André last October belong to a woman who went missing in 2020.
The Saint-Léonard RCMP responded at around 12 p.m. on Oct. 8 after the body was found to a wooded area just off Laforge Road in the community.
Members of the Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Police Dog Services and a forensic anthropologist also attended the scene, with more than 12 officers participating in a search.
Sgt. Jean-Pierre Bouchard, of the Saint-Léonard RCMP, confirmed Tuesday that the remains were identified as a 44-year-old woman reported missing from Grand Falls, N.B., on July 3, 2020.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and community at this time,” he said in a news release.
Mounties did not publicly release the woman’s identity but asked anyone with information that could help further the investigation to contact the Grand Falls Police Force at 506-475-7767.
