Suspect In December Hit And Run Charged

A 24-year-old Saint John man faces multiple charges after a hit-and-run on the city’s east side in early December, according to a statement by the Saint John Police Force.

Officers responded at approximately 6:13 p.m. on Dec. 8 to McAllister Mall after a report that a small four-door sedan hit a 44-year-old woman walking across the parking lot.

The driver fled before police arrived.

Witnesses helped the woman before first responders brought her to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement issued on Friday afternoon, Saint John Police Force Const. Stephen Davidson said police arrested a 24-year-old man on Wednesday connected with the hit-and-run.

The suspect now faces multiple driving offences under the criminal code.

“He will be appearing in court to answer to those charges at a later date,” said Davidson.
