Fredericton’s former member of parliament, Matt DeCourcey, and his wife, Maryam Monsef, welcomed their first child into the world last week.
The couple shared the happy news through Monsef’s social media on March 8, calling it “an International Women’s Day unlike any other.”
“As the sun set on this March 8, I was walking out of [Peterborough Regional Health Centre] with my two favourite guys,” said Monsef, who also served as a Liberal MP for Peterborough — Kawartha.
Monsef said her son, Samad Monsef DeCourcey, is healthy and determined, “living a life full of cuddles and naps.” She said the pair are looking forward to navigate life as parents.
She thanked the staff at the PRHC’s labour and delivery unit for their care in the days leading up to the Samad’s birth.
“We are fortunate to have such caring professionals in our community,” said Monsef.
“Our family will never forget their kindness and professionalism.”
