Bathurst Man Arrested For Meth Possession

A 58-year-old Bathurst man was arrested last week for carrying contraband cigarettes and a large amount of methamphetamine.

The Bathurst Police Force says its integrated enforcement unit, criminal investigation division, and patrol division — along with the Bathurst Safer Communities Unit — searched a home in the city on March 7.

“A substantial amount of methamphetamine, contraband cigarettes and Canadian currency were seized during the search,” reads a Facebook post from the Bathurst Police Force.

Officers say they released the suspect, who is slated to appear in Bathurst Provincial Court at a later date.

Investigators did not release the man’s identity.

As the investigation remains ongoing, police are reminding the public to report any suspicious drug activity in their neighbourhood by contacting local police or submitting anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
