One Dead, Four Injured In Collision Near Shediac

An early morning accident that occurred Sunday on Route 15 near the Shediac area claimed the life of a woman in her 60s and injured four others.

According to reporting by Radio-Canada, the French-language branch of the CBC, firefighters responded at around 6 a.m. to a head-on collision involving three vehicles in Beaubassin East.

The sole driver of one of the vehicles, who was identified as a woman in her 60s, died at the scene from her injuries.

Fire Chief Gaétan LeBlanc told Radio-Canada four people suffered minor injuries but were not taken to hospital.

Cst. William Hachey of the Shediac RCMP said an investigation into the crash is ongoing, but they believe the woman lost control of her vehicle.

Route 15 remained closed in both directions until 12:30 p.m.
