Army Holds Training Near Mactaquac This Week: CAF

Don’t be alarmed if you see soldiers in the Mactaquac area this week.

The Canadian Armed Forces says members from Base Gagetown are conducting exercises from Tuesday until Saturday.

Army officials say soldiers will train in the areas of the Mactaquac Dam, Mactaquac Bridge and Mactaquac Park.

They add residents might see armed military members, but there’s no cause for alarm.

“Use of blank ammunition during training will be done in accordance with CAF safety measures,” reads a Department of National Defence notice.

“Live ammunition will not be present. Illumination flares may be used during night hours.”

Officials say the training should pose no significant disturbance to traffic flows, but noted that residents can expect to see armoured military vehicles and movements on area highways.

The CAF says it always plans training to minimize any possible disturbance to local residents.
