A well-known bakery in the Saint John area has temporarily hit the pause button on its operations.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Saint John Bakery owner Stuart Howe announced all four of its locations would immediately take an “operational pause” to attempt to “sort out” operations.
“Labour shortages, doubling or tripling of the cost of ingredients and the high costs of everything around us all has [sic] hit our small business very very hard,” said Howe in the post.
Howe used the post as an opportunity to thank customers who supported the business over what he calls “the last couple of very, very challenging years.”
“We truly appreciate you and have loved being a part of your daily routine and special occasions,” he said.
“We will update you here shortly with a decision.”
Saint John Bakery has three locations in Saint John, including one in the Saint John City Market, as well as a third storefront in Grand Bay-Westfield.
