Man Charged After Break-In At Riverview Building

A judge at the Moncton Provincial Court charged a 40-year-old Moncton man Tuesday in connection to a break, enter and theft from a township building in Riverview.

The New Brunswick RCMP says it took place on Nov. 12 between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. at a public works building. The suspect stole nearly $500,000 of goods, including tools, generators and vehicles.

Police recovered several of the stolen items later that day.

Investigators say they arrested Daniel Patrick Whalen on Nov. 28 in connection with the investigation. He appeared in Moncton Provincial Court the same day to be charged with the following:

  • Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
  • Break and enter with intent
  • Operating a motor vehicle while suspended

Whalen, who initially appeared in court by way of tele-remand, returned on Nov. 29 for a bail hearing. He makes a third court appearance on Dec. 1.

Police say they seek any information about the incident and ask those who were in the area and witnessed suspicious activity to contact Codiac RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
