The Town of Riverview urged its residents Wednesday to prepare a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit due to Hurricane Fiona, expected to hit during the weekend.
Environment Canada expects heavy rain and strong winds as Fiona merges with a low-pressure trough and transforms into a powerful post-tropical storm, impacting southeastern New Brunswick.
The town told residents to put away or secure outdoor furniture and equipment and have an emergency kit readily available that includes water, nonperishable food, batteries and first aid supplies.
Residents should also be prepared in case of a power outage from fallen trees by including flashlights, a battery-operated radio, fuel portable generators and vehicles.
