Liberal Party Convention Arrives In Saint Andrews

Members of the Liberal Party of Canada, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, arrived in Saint Andrews, N.B. Sunday as part of the party’s National Caucus Retreat held at the Algonquin.

A notice issued by the Town of Saint Andrews says the convention will be held until Sept. 13.

“There will be an increased security presence in the community,” the town said in the notice, adding that a map provided by the RCMP, found here, identifies road barrier closures and checkpoints.

Checkpoints are set up on Harriet Street at Reed Avenue, Prince of Wales Street at Harriet Street, and Prince of Wales Street at Elizabeth Street.

Several streets are closed, including Mary Street at Parr Street, Adolphus Street at Parr Street, Carleton Street at Elizabeth Street, Harriet Street at Champlain Avenue, and Acadia Road at Champlain Avenue.

The event comes one week before Parliament returns from its summer break.
