A pipe burst at a 20-unit condominium in Fredericton that temporarily evacuated 16 people Tuesday caused damage to the building’s electrical and safety systems.
The water leak began shortly after noon at the building on Venus Court.
Volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross say they arranged emergency lodging for 16 people from seven units of the complex. Other residents are staying with relatives or friends.
“It’s hoped that most occupants will be able to return home Wednesday once the leak and any resulting water damage is repaired, and the electrical system can be inspected and service restored,” said Dan Bedell, communications director for the Atlantic Canadian Red Cross.
