Two-Vehicle Crash Kills 55-Year-Old Man

A two-vehicle collision in Penobsquis, N.B. on Friday night claimed the life of a 55-year-old man from the area.

Sussex RCMP, the Penobsquis Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded at approximately 9:15 p.m. to a head-on collision between an SUV and a transport truck on Highway 1.

Mounties believe the driver of the SUV, who travelled westbound in the eastbound lane, collided with the transport truck, which was also travelling eastbound.

The driver and sole occupant of the SUV died at the scene from his injuries, while the driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The highway was closed for around four hours.

Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
