43-Year-Old Arrested After Saint John Assault

A 43-year-old Saint John man has been arrested after a bizarre assault in the Waterloo Street area.

Police say a 47-year-old man was walking down a set of stairs with a cane on June 22 at around 12:10 p.m. to exit a building on Waterloo Street.

The suspect entered the building and reportedly complained that the victim was too slow before punching the victim in the neck and threatening him.

He later left the building, turned right and walked north on Waterloo Street towards Richmond Street.

“Following two tips from the public, on July 15, 2022, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Saint John Police arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with this assault,” said police in a statement.

The man was released on an undertaking to return to court on Oct. 13.
