New Brunswick has unveiled the final rosters of the 23 teams that will represent Team New Brunswick at the 2022 Canada Summer Games from Aug. 6 to 21 in Niagara, Ont.
The games were scheduled to take place in August 2021 but were postponed due to the pandemic. The competition is one of the largest multi-sport events held in the country.
“Our teams are ready to compete against the nation’s best athletes at the 2022 Canada Summer Games,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace.
“New Brunswickers should be proud of these teams, which are composed of talented athletes and para-athletes.”
Officials say the province is represented by 346 athletes, 80 coaches, managers and technical staff, and 20 mission team members.
The group held its rally and salute to provide final briefings to the teams and to unveil the ceremonial uniform.
“I encourage all New Brunswickers from every corner of our province to proudly cheer on our team members who will definitely enjoy their Canada Games experience,” said Team New Brunswick chef de mission Nicole Smith.
The Canada Summer Games features 18 sports over 16 days involving more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and managers.
Sports on New Brunswick’s competition calendar include athletics, baseball, beach volleyball, box lacrosse, canoe kayak, cycling, golf, mountain bike, rowing, rugby sevens, sailing, soccer and softball.
It will also include swimming, tennis, triathlon, volleyball and wrestling.
