A 60-year-old Saint John man is dead after an industrial accident at the American Iron and Metal Recycling Plant on the city’s lower west side.
Saint John Police and other emergency personnel responded at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday to an incident at the plant, located at 145 Gateway Street.
Police say 60-year-old Darrell Richards sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he died on Friday.
“The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit is assisting the Coroner’s office and WorksafeNB in a joint investigation,” said the force in a news release.
“The Saint John Police sends our condolences to the family and friends of Darrell Richards at this most difficult time.”
