An overnight fire in East Saint John has left seven people temporarily homeless.
Saint John Fire crews were called shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday to a home on Mount Pleasant Avenue East.
Officials say there was heavy smoke from the back of the two-storey, two-unit complex. There were also two vehicles and two sheds on fire.
Crews remained on the scene for nearly six hours before bringing the fire under control.
Volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross are now helping five adults and two children with emergency lodging, meals, clothing and other basics.
An investigation into the fire is ongoing.
