A new poll says four in five Canadians are in favour of a woman’s right to have an abortion.
Leger and the Association of Canadian Studies conducted an online survey last week in which 1,534 people took part.
Meanwhile, 14 per cent of those surveyed expressed that they are pro-life and opposed to abortion.
The survey comes as the world turns its eyes to the United States, which is facing turmoil over the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Figures show that 70 per cent of respondents are concerned about the leaked draft opinion, and almost half think the situation may affect Canada.
In a report by The Canadian Press, abortion was decriminalized in Canada after a Supreme Court decision in 1988.
Still, it’s not considered a constitutional right under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
