Correctional Services Seize Contraband At Renous Jail

Federal prison officials seized a package of contraband last month at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B.

Staff at the maximum-security jail found the package on April 20 on the perimeter of the prison.

The unauthorized items included nine bales of tobacco, one cell phone and one charger.

Officials say the combined estimated value is $11,500.

The Correctional Service of Canada says it has a phone line for tips about security activities at federal jails. These activities may include drug use or trafficking that threatens visitors, inmates, and staff safety and security.
