New Brunswick’s Environmental Trust Fund will invest more than $8.6 million in 234 application-based environmental projects this year.
A news release says the projects include environmental research, education and restoration, waste reduction and recycling and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
“We are pleased to support innovative projects which encourage environmental initiatives in our communities to build a better New Brunswick,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gary Crossman in a news release
“Each project makes a significant contribution to improving our environment while creating jobs and helping our economy.”
The Environmental Trust Fund supports initiatives to protect the environment, manage waste and build sustainable communities on an annual basis.
The government says contributions to the fund are generated through the Beverage Containers Program.
