Cyclists in the Moncton area will continue to have another way to keep their bikes safe.
Codiac RCMP says it is renewing its partnership with the 529 Garage app for the second year in a row. The app allows owners to register their bike’s serial number and a picture to help prevent theft. If it’s stolen, the owner can send an alert to all users in the area. Then if someone sees the bike, they can make a report in the app to identify its location.
As New Brunswick kicks off this year’s cycling season, the RCMP is hosting a couple of free 529 Garage registration events.
“At the events, Codiac Regional RCMP members will help cyclists register their bikes and give out free 529 Garage shield stickers,” said Eric Larose of the Codiac RCMP in a news release.
“Please bring the bicycle to the event to complete the registration process and make sure to download the 529 Garage application before attending.”
The dates for this year’s events can be found below:
- May 7 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Moncton City Hall on 655 Main Street.

- May 28 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Park gazebo on Coverdale Road in Riverview.
The 529 Garage app is available in English and French on the Apple and Google Play app stores.
