N.B. To Test Alert Ready System Wednesday

You can expect your cell phones, televisions and radios to make a loud noise late Wednesday morning.

Officials with the Government of New Brunswick said it will test the Alert Ready system on Wednesday at 10:55 a.m.

The national emergency alert system delivers critical and potentially life-saving alerts.

“Following an audible alarm, the following information will be presented by television on a red background or broadcast by radio: ‘This is a test of the National Public Alerting System issued by the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization. If this was an actual emergency or threat, instructions would now be given that would assist you and your family. This is a test, no action is required.'”

The province says compatible wireless devices will vibrate and the alert sound will play, followed by a text in English and French stating it’s a test.

Alert Ready recently came in handy after it was used by the Miramichi Police Force in January to issue an Amber Alert for a six-year-old boy who went missing.
