Good news for Saint Johners who wish to park their cars over the weekend.
The City of Saint John says free overnight weekend parking within the port city’s entertainment district will start on May 1 and run until Oct. 31.
“Supporting local just got easier,” reads a news release from the city.
“Come uptown to enjoy a night out knowing you can leave your vehicle until the next morning if needed.”
The city says all parking meters and city-owned parking lots — with the exception of the parking garages at Market Square and Peel Plaza — will be available for free overnight parking on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.
The entertainment district is the area by Water Street & Charlotte Street, from King Street to Duke Street.
Daytime parking rules will still apply from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
