RCMP Arrest Two Men, Seize Several Guns After Armed Robbery

Codiac RCMP arrested two men after an armed robbery in the Moncton area.

Officers responded to the call shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Monday at a business on McLaughlin Drive. Two masked men, armed with firearms, restrained an employee, stole a safe with an undisclosed amount of money inside and the employee’s vehicle.

The employee was not injured, but the suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

Members of the Richibucto RCMP found the vehicle crashed around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 11 near Cocagne.

Another vehicle of interest was later identified in the Miramichi area by the Miramichi Police Force.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old man on Tuesday outside a business in Miramichi. Officers seized five unsecured firearms, including one that was loaded and two that are restricted.

They also found what is believed to be cocaine, hydromorphone pills and other items connected to the Moncton robbery.

The RCMP says 40-year-old Joshua Landry of Miramichi appeared in a Moncton courthouse on April 27. He was charged with robbery with a firearm and forcible confinement.

Landry was remanded into custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing on April 29 at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Alain Pigeon of Grand Falls violated his parole and was returned to the custody of Correctional Service of Canada.

He will appear in court at a later date.

“This was a great example of our collaboration with, and support from, the Miramichi Police Force in order to quickly resolve an active investigation and protect public safety,” says Sgt. Mathieu Roy, with the Codiac Regional RCMP.

“We would like to thank everyone who helped us further the investigation and find those responsible.”

Police are working to determine if the individuals are connected to other incidents.

The investigation is ongoing.
