Sussex ER Closed For Part Of This Weekend

Sussex residents will not have access to their local emergency room for part of the weekend.

The Horizon Health Network says the temporary closures at the Sussex Health Centre are due to a nursing shortage. The ER will close at 5:30 p.m. Friday and will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“After 5:30 p.m., all patients and clients will need to seek treatment at another hospital,” said a news release from the health authority.

Regular 24-hour service will resume on Monday at 7:30 a.m.

This is the fourth weekend that the health centre has experienced weekend closures in the past month.

Residents are urged to call 911 if they are experiencing a medical emergency.

People with non-urgent medical needs can call Tele-Care 811 or book a virtual appointment through eVisitNB.
