A 17-year-old Saint John boy who has been missing for three days has been found safe, according to police.
Gerald Surnode had last been seen at Centre Scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain in Millidgeville at around 3:30 p.m. on April 25. He was reported to the police the same day.
Saint John Police announced Surnode was found safe shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening. He was treated by paramedics and returned home to his family.
Police didn’t say where Surnode was found, but investigators conducted extensive searches of the area around Samuel de Champlain and the shorelines with the help of search and rescue and the Saint John Fire Department.
The force thanked the community, school officials and first responders for their assistance.
“We are grateful to all our citizens for their genuine concern and to those who provided information that assisted us in the safe return of this young man to his family,” said Police Chief Robert Bruce.
“Thank you, Saint John, for making a difference.”
