Residents in the Moncton area are being asked to limit their visits to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital’s emergency room to emergency cases only.
The Vitalité Health Network says the temporary measure is connected to a lack of nursing staff and hospital overcrowding.
Non-urgent cases may be referred elsewhere or asked to return the next day.
Vitalité urges patients to see their family doctor, a community pharmacist or call Tele-Care if their health condition is not deemed critical.
The ER is still available for those who need urgent care and wish to see a doctor.
